Online retailing is estimated to be worth £28.1bn by 2011

Online retail spend at £10.9bn

The amount spent online by consumers increased by 33.4 per cent to £10bn in 2006, according to retail research group Verdict.

Excluding online spend for insurance, flights and tickets, the report predicts that online retailing will be worth £28.1bn by 2011 - accounting for nearly 9 per cent of total retail sales for the UK.
