Brief
Skillswise is aimed at adult basic skills students and basic skills tutors who are getting to grips with the new National Curriculum, covering both literacy and numeracy.
A major consideration throughout the project was that a significant proportion of students were likely to be apprehensive about using computers and unfamiliar with the internet. Adult learners who use the site lack confidence and are easily put off, but equally don’t want to be patronized.
Solution
Cimex produced relevant and interactive content within a structure that is easy to use, easy to read and easy to print.
- A stealth-learning approach was applied so all interactive elements are grounded in either real life scenarios or topics that are humorous to adults
- Cimex designed the overall structure and appearance of the site, including the production of educational Flash games and activities
- The games and activities support the Adult Numeracy and Literacy Curriculum for England
Result
Skillswise received widespread acclaim from the learning community and has been used in HM Prisons in the UK.
