Film Club
‘I told the Creative Director at Cimex that I wanted to empower the team to be as creative as possible, to produce something that they would look back at and think ‘this is great work’. We also wanted something that communicated directly to young people. Cimex used this to inform the design and functionality and we have had great feedback from Film Club students as a result. The timescale for the Film Club website was horribly tight but Cimex fully embraced it and went the extra…light year! At the heart of Film Club is a belief that film broadens minds in extraordinary and unexpected ways and that this cannot happen without access to all genres of film – past and present.
Brief
Film Club entrusted Cimex with the design and build of its rich new motion picture resource for children in schools.
Solution
Cimex created an online reserve aimed at being an engaging introduction for children into the vast and imaginative world of film. The site presents the option for interested schools to register online and gain access to over 62,000 titles as the project rolls out.
The Cimex solution includes:
- Initial background research and user testing
- An A to Z search functionality for films, with browse options by theme, age or season
- ‘Behind the curtain’ insight from actors, directors and other personalities such as Bafta-winning actress Thandie Newton, novelist Nick Hornby and Chancellor Gordon Brown
- User generated content (UGC) allowing pupils to rate, write and share film reviews with other schools
- A content management system that is easy to manage and scaleable for future development
Since the official launch in February, 955 schools have registered an interest in Film Club.
