Extended schools

Young people are spending more time at school engaged in informal learning activities through breakfast, after school and lunchtime clubs. Digital media can play a hugely important role in facilitating and supporting these activities.

Cimex has been at the forefront of working with schools to research, set up and support extended school informal learning activities.

Two pioneering projects developed by Cimex which have had a profound impact on young people are the World of Learning award winning Computer Clubs for Girls (CC4G) and Film Club which was recently launched by Prime Minister Gordon Brown. CC4G has been developed to inspire 9-13 year old girls to get into IT whilst Film club brings the cinema experience into schools.
