“Cimex was set the challenging task of creating a site that would balance creativity, accessibility and security. We were delighted that Cimex was able to bring the projects’ detailed plans to life in a style that complemented the exciting televisual element of the competition, whilst maintaining the high level of security necessary for awarding a large grant of public money.” Huw Thomas, Deputy Director of Communications and Marketing: Big Lottery Fund
Brief
Cimex was briefed by the Big Lottery Fund (BIG) to develop an online platform to help find the winner of a £50 million National Lottery grant, for a groundbreaking project that would inspire communities to revitalise the areas where they live.
The site would be the primary means of providing the public with objective information about each of the projects (Eden Project: The Edge, Black Country Urban Park, Sustran’s Connect2 and Sherwood: the Living Legend) so that informed decisions could be made about voting.
Solution
Cimex collaborated with BIG on a website that, not only houses a credible voting system, but also represents the vision of each project accurately and responsibly. And supports the television show on ITV.
Site features include:
- A secure and easy-to-use online voting system
- Video content on each project
- An interactive discussion forum for the public to voice their opinion
- Up-to-date news on each project
- A pledge wall and a ‘spread the word’ functionality where site visitors can elicit the interest and support of their friends on the project of their choice
Cimex was responsible for the technology, design, hosting and maintenance of the site. Cimex content editors also developed web editorial which helped engage and encourage users to post on the site’s forums, which were in turn moderated by web editors.
