DIY Planet Repairs

‘I’m really impressed with the quality of work, both from a technical and creative standpoint. We’ll certainly be considering Cimex again for future projects,’ Ryan White, Greater London Authority.

Brief

The Greater London Authority (GLA) commissioned Cimex, on behalf of London Mayor Ken Livingstone to develop a microsite which encourages users to find out how green they are and how to make changes to their lifestyle to repair the planet.

The initiative encourages 7.4 million Londoners to change their behaviour and lead a more environmentally aware lifestyle.

Solution

Cimex created a London-oriented campaign website geared towards people with an existing knowledge of environmental issues and a willingness to combat climate change by making small changes in their day to day lives.

Site features include:

  • Content and design relevant to the London resident from Hampstead through to Tower Hamlets
  • A DIY Living area with a virtual home environment encouraging change to a more environmentally friendly lifestyle with tips on saving energy and a toolkit for successful ‘green’ living
  • Expert advice, special offers such as vouchers and discounts on ‘green’ products and up-to-date news on environmental issues
  • Employing a user centred design approach (UCD), Cimex carried out user testing with Londoners throughout the site development process

Cimex was responsible for the user testing, information architecture, design and technical build of the site.

‘Climate change is now a top issue of concern for Londoners. We are launching the DIY Planet Repairs campaign to provide clear and simple information to Londoners about what they can do to help address global warming,’ former Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone.
