Solution: Cimex collaborated with the BBC to develop a combined TV and PC programming venture with the launch of a twin-screen experience on the channel.
The BBC’s twin-screen approach aims to engage viewers through their PC and TV simultaneously, with Cimex responsible for creating the online application for the programme.
Site features include:
- A database driven, user registration and polling system, capable of handling high volume turnover and delivering robust data to a live TV show
- Presenter’s diaries
- A dynamic tally of the number of buddies signed up to each presenter with a highly reliable live data output to feed TV and web
- A delivery platform for rich media, such as video and audio streams and downloads, image and wallpaper assets – updated weekly
- A social networking forum – reflecting the likes of Twitter, Bebo, Myspace and Facebook, to highlight the importance of friendship and giving personal access to the presenter’s lives
Cimex is responsible for the design, technology, hosting and maintenance of the site.
Result: Regular weekly statistics in November 2007 averaged at 1 million page impressions from 100 000 unique visitors.
